Youth and Family
the way
The WAY is our Wednesdays for Adults and Youth. The WAY was the name for the early Christian movement- from John 14:6 when Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.”

We gather at 6 o’clock for a light snack and refreshments before breaking into individual educational classes. Programs offered include: confirmation, high school faith education, and parent and adult Bible study. We finish up the evening with a blessing.
     • 6:00-6:30 – Light Snack
     • 6:10 – Education for all ages
     • 7:25 – Blessing

Children’s Offering
Each Sunday during the offering, the children are invited to bring up their offering and place it in a special jar. Once the funds have accumulated, the children meet to decide what they want to do with the money. In the past they have opted to donate to organizations such as ELCA Good Gifts, Janssen Animal Shelter and other charities.

Confirmation classes are held on Wednesday nights. Most of the time they are held in conjunction with the www.keepingusconnected program; however there are certain dates where just the confirmation classes meet. Watch the calendar closely for those occurrences. Confirmation classes are intended for 7th and 8th graders. The students learn about faith and the Bible in more depth than they have as young children. They are prepring to be responsible for their own faith life. Classes culminated in the rite of Affirmation of Baptism, or Confirmation, when students confirm the promises their parents made for them at baptism. Students have dinner and then class beings at 6:10. The students are often leaders of the Wednesday worship. Classes are taught by Pastor Marcia and MiLisa Gaertner.

First Communion
In the Lutheran church we believe…
During First Communion classes children (or adults) are taught the meaning and purpose behind the Lord’s Supper. The age of a child who is ready to participate in communion varies and is generally left up the discretion of the parents, child and pastor. First Communion classes at the SLM are scheduled as needed. Please contact Pastor Marcia with any questions. When we have a class forming, more information will be posted.

Baptism is one of the most important events in the life of a Christian. As Lutherans, we believe that baptism bestows upon us God’s promises and that we are forever a part of his family. If you would like to schedule a baptism, please contact Pastor Marcia to set up a date for the event as well as a time to meet beforehand.

Marriage & Weddings
Your wedding day is one of the most important and most memorable days of your life….
If you are planning an upcoming wedding, please contact Pastor Marcia as soon as possible to discuss available dates, pre-marital counseling and other details for the big day!
